UNILIN division technologies expands the UNIZIP technology to tongue & groove flooring.

Unilin technologies is happy to announce that in cooperation with Bart Beugt and extend the one-panel solution for herringbone flooring to T&G profiles. Tongue and groove profiles are popular in engineered- and solid wood parquet floors which are frequently laid as herringbone patterns.

Unilin’s IP division filed an IPR petition to invalidate I4F’s recently issued US patent

On March 1, 2019, Flooring Industries Limited SARL (FIL), Unilin’s IP division, filed an Inter Partes Review (IPR) petition with the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) of the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), challenging the validity of Innovations4Flooring’s US patent 10,053,868, issued on August 21, 2018. Innovations4Flooring (I4F) asserted this patent on February 28, 2019 against Wellmade Floor Coverings International, Inc., Wellmade Performance Flooring and Costco Wholesale Corporation. 

Unilin files Canadian patent infringement cases for use of bevel and locking technologies

On January 15, 2019, Unilin division technologies filed three patent infringement actions against multiple companies in Canada alleging infringement of Unilin’s patents on bevel or “v-groove” technology, and also various patents related to Unilin’s locking technology.

Unilin’s IP division partners with DIEFFENBACHER to roll out the fiberboard recycling technology Osiris

DIEFFENBACHER and Unilin Technologies, the intellectual property division of Unilin, are pleased to announce a cooperation agreement to further commercialize ‘Osiris’, Unilin’s patented fiberboard recycling technology. This partnership strengthens the commitment of both companies to drive sustainability in the flooring and panel industries by enabling the full recycling of wood fiberboards such as MDF, HDF, THDF and wood fiber insulation boards, including post-consumer material. Under this agreement, DIEFFENBACHER will be the preferred partner for offering Osiris machine and equipment technology into fiberboard production processes globally.

The Osiris technology, which utilizes a steam explosion process to recover high-quality recycled fibers from waste fiberboard, has been successfully validated through the Osiris 1.0 pilot installation at Unilin’s Bazeilles plant, operational since 2022. The technology does not only play a crucial role in advancing a circular economy within the industry, but very important, it also offers a cost-effective solution for wood fiber supply with an impressive return on investment business case.
